  • Dulcan's Textbook of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
    • Edited by Mina K. Dulcan, M.D
Dulcan’s Textbook of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry supplants the previous textbook edited by Jerry Wiener and Mina Dulcan—not with a new edition, but rather a new book that offers a fresh look at the field of child mental health. It preserves Wiener’s vision of a clinically focused textbook useful to trainees and practitioners in a variety of specialties, providing the most up-to-date and comprehensive text in child and adolescent psychiatry as presented by more than 110 contributors who distill their knowledge and expertise into a single authoritative volume. Both the organization of the original text and the structure of the chapters have been overhauled to better communicate the clinical art and wisdom of child psychiatry while remaining grounded firmly in clinical science. Each chapter highlights what we know about evidence-based practices in assessment and treatment, while sections on future research point toward current pressing questions. At the end of each chapter are educational summary points. Of the 65 chapters, 56 feature new lead authors, chosen to represent the expertise of disciplines ranging from pediatrics and neurology to sleep medicine and family therapy.

  • Manual of Clinical Psychopharmacology, 7th Edition
    • Alan F. Schatzberg, M.D., Jonathan O. Cole, M.D., and Charles DeBattista, D.M.H., M.D.
Since 1986, the Manual of Clinical Psychopharmacology has been the gold standard for applying psychotropic medications to the treatment of specific psychiatric conditions. With each new edition, the book has grown in stature as well as in size, making it the bestselling book of its kind. While the information is both up-to-the-minute and comprehensive, perhaps the book’s most compelling attribute is its collegial and accessible writing style. Practicing psychiatrists, psychopharmacologists, pharmacists, and students in psychiatry and pharmacology will find the narrative easy to follow, without sacrificing depth. Reliable, readable, and highly regarded, this new edition of the Manual of Clinical Psychopharmacology continues the tradition established by its predecessors.

  • Textbook of Traumatic Brain Injury, 2nd Edition
    • Edited by Jonathan M. Silver, M.D., Thomas W. McAllister, M.D., and Stuart C. Yudofsky, M.D.
Each year in the United States, more than 3 million people sustain a traumatic brain injury (TBI), at a dollar cost exceeding $48 billion. Yet media and policy makers have largely ignored this major public health problem—and most clinicians lack experience in treating and evaluating patients with TBI and thus are unaware of its many subtle but disabling psychiatric symptoms. This critically important textbook—the timely successor to the popular 1994 compilation by the same editors—fills that void, providing a wealth of scientific, yet easy-to-understand information, from both research and clinical practice, on the complex neuropsychiatric sequelae of TBI. Extensively updated and expanded by recognized experts, this comprehensive textbook contains 40 chapters, including 15 new for this edition, and more than 100 informative figures and illustrations. New chapters address structural and functional imaging, electrophysiologic techniques, neuropsychological assessment, social issues, systems of care, and treatment modalities, including alternative therapies. Expanded chapters discuss the multiple neuropsychiatric sequelae but not encompassed by the usual psychiatric syndromes, including apathy, reduced awareness of deficits, fatigue, pain, headaches, balance problems, visual difficulties, and sports injuries. This practical, deeply informative text is a "must read" for everyone involved in the care and treatment of patients who are coping with the devastating consequences of TBI.

PsychiatryOnline brings essential resources in the field of psychiatry together in one Web-based product with extensive interlinking, designed to make it simple to research a topic in depth with a minimum of effort. It succeeds. ... It’s almost impossible to do a bad search, and that makes it an excellent resource for end-user searching.

— Christee King, The University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, Journal of Electronic Resources in Medical Libraries www.informaworld.com/smpp/content~content=a908605270~db=all~order=page

I have come to rely on this resource at my desk in practice, as much as I relied on the Washington Manual in my pocket as a medical student. I delight in the many resources at my fingertips, and frequently use material for patient education, especially in psychopharmacology. ... I find PsychiatryOnline a great asset. Thank you for this contribution to my continuing and lifelong education.

— Diana M. Tracy, M.D., Psychiatrist for Mental Health Services, VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, Santa Maria Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Santa Maria, CA

Everything is great, and our Account Manager is excellent with help and advice and information—Thanks to her, and thanks to web development, design, and content folks for a great site! We mainly use the DSM, but the journal content is also terrific.

— Scott Hines, Librarian, Pacific Graduate School of Psychology, Palo Alto, CA

PsychiatryOnline.com is, by far, one of the most richly resourced web-learning gold mines I’ve come across in my years of teaching and practice, and I always refer my students to it! It is a highly comprehensive and magnificent powerhouse of the most current clinical resources practitioners can rely on!

— Joseph Kumi, M.S.W., L.I.C.S.W., A.C.S.W., Clinical Lecturer, School of Social Administration, Temple University

... I’ve been impressed by all of the improvements in content and functioning of the site over the years. But this evening, I just had to write. It’s very rare that I go to a site and say "Wow!" This evening, while writing a book chapter on schizophreniform disorder, I had to look up the ways that the criteria have changed over the years. And having the old editions of DSM was very helpful. I also needed to include information on the history of schizophreniform disorder and I wanted to download a letter to the editor by Langfeldt that was published in Am J Psychiatry in 1982. I went to the AJP Search box, typed in Langfeldt and got 90 hits of every AJP article that ever mentioned him or his work. Many of the articles were relevant to my topic but hadn't come up on PubMed. Other articles weren’t as relevant, but offered amazing insights into the history of psychiatry. So even though it’s 2 AM, I’ve been sitting here reading old AJP articles and thinking "This is really awesome."

— Laura J. Fochtmann, M.D., Professor, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, State University of New York at Stony Brook

PsychiatryOnline.com is unbelievable!!! The journals are an amazing resource and The American Journal of Psychiatry archives are a historical treasure. This is something all American Psychiatric Association members should obtain and utilize. With the rapid explosion of knowledge I think this is a must for anyone who teaches or sees patients. The ease of use, friendly format, and comprehensive contents make me realize how little we had before the Internet made sites like PsychiatryOnline.com possible.

— Thomas Wise, M.D., Chairman, Department of Psychiatry, Inova Fairfax Hospital; Medical Director of Behavioral Services, Inova Health Systems; Professor of Psychiatry, George Washington University School of Medicine; Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine

PsychiatryOnline is incredible! One of the first things I do at the start of my workday is log into my account. And then I leave it open on my computer desktop so that I can easily refer to it for diagnostic criteria, treatment guidelines, or simply to review the latest journal articles. It’s the easiest, quickest, and most intuitive way to access psychiatric information. I get more work done in less time, and the quality of my work has improved. PsychiatryOnline.com is definitely a "competitive advantage." I've encouraged my colleagues to get it, and would encourage all psychiatrists to do the same. I would even go so far as to say that PsychiatryOnline.com will serve to strengthen the psychiatric profession and help keep psychiatrists in the forefront of mental health diagnosis, treatment, and research.

— Scott Monteith, M.D., Traverse City, Michigan

Whether your needs are clinical, academic or administrative, the PsychiatryOnline site has the resources that enable you to access the information critical to your work. With textbooks, journals, and practice guidelines in electronic format extensively linked to relevant literature, creating educational materials and presentations is a "snap." All this in one site!

— Justin J. Trevino, M.D., Assistant Director of Medical Student Education, Wright State University Department of Psychiatry

I have found your service invaluable for both my work at the high school and my private practice. It is very accessible for all, and especially for sight-impaired individuals. Your customer service is to be commended.

— Jamie McKinley, L.C.S.W.

PsychiatryOnline has proved to be a valuable resource to our staff... more and more clinical staff have come to rely on the up-to-date information offered. The program is very easy to use even for the people who are not very computer savvy. The convenience of having all that information at the fingertips of our staff has also helped alleviate some of the heavy workload of the library staff.
